SF Weekend

Someone has birds of paradise growing in their front yard in Rockridge!

I will always be amazed by the plants here.

The public art here is a lot more interesting than in NY. Why do I compare everything to NY? I dunno. I guess because that's the only other major US city I've lived in.

A view of south SF.

SF MoMA: Artwork

These are all from the outdoor sculpture garden (the Louise Bourgeois spider is in the indoor part).

SF MoMA

I went to SF MoMA on Sunday as it was the last day of the William Kentridge exhibit, which I liked a lot. I'm a big fan of NY MoMA (used to be a member when I lived in NYC) but I actually think SF MoMA is better, in some ways - it's smarter, picks better pieces to exhibit in the standing collection, and has a lot more interesting work by younger artists. The building, too, is more successful than NY MoMA. Of course, it doesn't have The Persistence of Memory or Les demoiselles d'Avignon, but it still has great stuff.

Pics of the building in this post, pics of the artwork above.
